According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, one in every three adults age 65 and older falls each year. The severity of the injury may vary but any injury of any level can make life difficult afterwards. A fall or injury can make it hard to walk, move around, perform daily tasks, and can interrupt sleep among other things.

There are three ways to help improve the quality of life after an injury or fall. These three things include: a crutch cane, rollator walkers, and use of pressure relief cushions.

Crutch Cane
Used to help sturdy someone as they walk and to help relieve pain in the legs while walking, these canes serve as an assistive walking stick to many people after injuries. These assistive walking sticks have supports for the forearm rather than supports underneath the arm. Assistive walking sticks like these work best if properly measured to an individual by a physician. The benefits that come from using a crutch cane or assisted walking stick are relief, comfort, support and mobility.

Rollator Walkers
A walking aid can help when moving around after an injury. Walking aids with wheels such as rollator walkers provide support without placing pressure on the forearm. The wheels allow the walking aid to glide across the ground while assisting with balance and keeping posture straight. Wheels can be locked and many walking aids have a small seat when rest is needed. Some walking aids have a frame that will flex when driven over rough and uneven terrain. Ease of set up and take down among many other benefits make rollator walkers can prove to be a good choice for those who need support but also desire independence.

Pressure Relief Cushions
Injuries can make it hard to get restful sleep. Discomfort during the night can lead to stress which may cause recovery to be more difficult. Cushioning materials can help reduce pressure while you sleep as well as while you sit. Specialized pads or pillows fit to your body and provide the right amount of support to all areas. Various shapes and sizes of pillows ensure you get the sleep and comfort you need while lying in different positions and while sitting.

Before using a crutch cane, pressure relief cushions, or rollator walkers it is best to consult your physician. Even the smallest of injury or fall should be mentioned and monitoried, especially if the person with the injury is elderly. A physician can help you find the best relief options for your individual needs and quick recovery. Safety when using these products is imperative to your rate of recovery and comfort after an injury.
