In many cultures today in the Westernized world, the idea of being thin is very often seen as being the same as physical beauty, success as well as happiness. Almost every person may have thought about the effect that weight and shape of the body have on their self-image.

This is not to allude to eating disorders as being about dieting or vanity but is actually complicated psychological aberrations through which a person develops his or her eating patterns and then habitually maintains them as a means of handling other problems that occur in his or her life.

The Dangers of Anorexia

Statistics show that supposedly more than five million Americans get afflicted by serious as well as life-threatening eating disorders and these include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, compulsive eating and obesity and pica. If these aberrations are not treated, the emotional, psychological as well as physical penalties would get unbelievably out of hand and sometimes may even result in fatalities.

An anorexia eating disorder is sometimes known as anorexia nervosa and is very dangerous and could also be threatening to a person's life and results in the patient intentionally depriving them of food. This may even take the extreme form of starving in an attempt to attain the much sought after thinness.

Anorexia eating disorder means that the person tries to have extreme weight loss as well as refusing to maintain the body weight that should be normal for people of that age and height. Even when they are extremely thin, the person suffering anorexia eating disorder will consider him or herself to be fat. Anorexia eating disorder lowers a person's self-esteem and this disorder is directly related to the shape of their bodies as well as body weights.

In addition, anorexia eating disorder also mainly affects girls as well as young women and is more than a problem with food. Anorexia eating disorder is a method of using food or starving the self to feel that the person is more in control of his or her life and also when trying to ease tension, anger and anxiety, it is known to play a major role.

There may be several contributing factors for a person to suffer from an anorexia eating disorder, including biology, culture, personal feelings, stressful events or life changes, and finally, families. A person suffering anorexia eating disorder won't feel energetic and so acts slowly.
