When you are not feeling well there are many places that you can go to get help. Many of the places that you will go are called a clinic. There are some places where all of the nurses or physicians or both are what they call traveling medical staff. When you go to a clinic that is the way it may be called a travel clinic, or in French it is called a clinique du voyage.
Clinics that are this kind tend to do really well because there is a constant flow of new ideas that can help the clinic to stay on their toes. This helps patients because they are constantly getting some of the latest and most constant progression on the cutting edge practices.
Of course, some patients prefer to have a steady doctor that they can see all of their life. If that is the case for you then going to a travel clinic may not be the best option. In some cases a doctor who has several offices to service different cities may also have his overall business as a doctor referred to as a travel clinic because they are moving back and forth between locations. Of course, this is good for those that want a steady doctor.
The medical world has continued to progress at a rapid rate and the types of treatment that are coming into play now are sometimes counter intuitive to what we have thought in the past as a society and as a medical community.
One great example of this is in the use of something called therapeutic hypothermia. The medical community would never have thought in the past that purposely putting someone into hypothermia was a good thing. However, the fact is that is now part of life saving procedure in severe medical emergencies. This allows for the organs and other body functions to slow down enough that the body can heal and doctors can put the body in a better place to be ready to heal. It is this very procedure that can save lives.
The next time that you are traveling in a foreign country if you find that you need to see a doctor for something you may want to try going to a Clinique du voyage so that you know you are getting the most recent, up to date type of care. This is especially a good idea in places where medical treatment may be behind the times otherwise.
