MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko has it going on, and fans everywhere are mimicking him and everything he does, both in and out of the fighting arena. The truth is that his entire family is heavily into martial arts, and they collectively have decades of experience in the field.

The legendary fighter was born and grew up in Rubizhne, which in the 1970s when he was born was part of Russia. Modern maps have the area now listed as being inside the borders of the Ukraine. He has two other brothers, and he is the oldest out of the three of them. All three of the brothers participate in MMA fighting as professional fighters, but Fedor has so far had the most success in the arena of MMA fighting.
Fedor Emelianenko graduated from high school in 1991, and he did go on to also graduate from a professional trade school with honors. In the mid 1990s he enlisted in the Russian army and served his duty as a military fire fighter. Late in the decade, he married his high school sweetheart and began his family with her.

He has stated that he always was interested in the mixed martial arts form of fighting, especially the areas of judo and Sambo. When he was only ten years old he started his fighting training with Vasiliy Ivanovich Favrilov. It is interesting because as a child, Fedor is remembered by his trainer as pretty weak and seeming to have no natural ability for the sport. However, Fedor worked hard and his perseverance pulled him through straight to the top, for sure.

In 1997 he earned the Master of Sports certifications in judo and Sambo and he became a member of the Russian national team. He took home the bronze medal in the Russian Judo Championship in 1998 and began training with another legend, his mentor Alexander Vasilievich Michkov. In 1999 he trained heavily for several hours every day, and worked on his skills of kickboxing, boxing, and grappling. He would run every single day seven to nine miles, and in 2000 decided to give mixed martial arts a try as a competitor in combat Sambo.

Thanks to his perseverance and hard work, he has only los one of the almost 30 fights that he has fought in, which is why so many fans honor and support him so much. Fedor Emelianenko is considered by many to be one of the best heavyweight fighters in the world.
