As a Sydney personal trainer Im often asked what benefits a corporate fitness program can offer businesses looking to take an active role in their employees wellbeing. Having a healthy workforce can make a big difference to the bottom line of a company, healthy employees take less sick days and have better morale as well as being more productive. This also lowers the health care costs of their employer.

If employees are sick or out of shape, they are more susceptible to injury, and they need more sick days. By contrast, if fitness programs are incorporated as part of a workday regime, workers are more productive, and less likely to take sick days or be absent because of injury or illness. Finally, this is also of benefit to employers not just in productivity (which of course increases their profits); it also literally drives down costs, because health costs drop when employees are fit.

Being proactive when it comes to the health and well being of employees is a good investment in the future of your business. Too many companies look towards remedies rather than prevention. A lot of corporate health care is meant for employees who are already sick, rather than being intended to prevent illness. Since nearly 75% of illnesses are due to lifestyle factors, it makes better business sense for companies to aim for prevention rather than treatment of those who are already sick.

A medical care program is a lot more expensive than a corporate fitness program; so through a holistic approach to employee health, companies stand to save a great deal of money. Small business owners can set up seminars for employees during lunch hours featuring nutritionists and other fitness professionals. Employees can learn important healthy lifestyle habits from these short lunchtime seminars, some of which they can even incorporate into their work day.

A company can also opt to run a biggest loser style contests with a prize given for losing the most weight, giving up smoking, etc. Having a nutritionist help employees to develop healthy diet plans can increase productivity and save the company money on health care in the long run. Diet and exercise in combination offer a solution to our societys epidemic levels of obesity.

Fitness companies can conduct corporate boot camps, fitness assessments, team building days and lunch and learns among other services. These kinds of fitness solutions can help build better morale and increase productivity. Youll see less sick days taken and less spent on health care.

Your bottom line will be enhanced and you will tell your employees that you genuinely care about their health.
