We are what we eat. And if we don't eat right then we will possibly have bad skin. A poor diet, and a weakened digestive enzymes will all result to skin conditions. The skin conditions can be acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea and other types of dermatitis.

So, in order to have healthy and glowing skin creams and lotions are not enough. You also have to have vitamins, minerals, nutrients, digestive enzymes and a proper diet to achieve and maintain a healthy complexion. Some of the vitamins that can be good for the skin are Vitamins C, E, A, K and B complex.

Vitamin C and E have only been recently discovered by dermatologists to counter the effects of sun exposure which lead to skin cancer. Then Vitamin E reduce photo damage, wrinkles and improve skin texture. Good sources for Vitamin C are citric fruits and vegetables such as bell paper, cauliflower, broccoli and leafy greens. Vitamin C supplements up to 500 to 1,000, milligrams are also okay.

Vitamin A on the other hand is important as it helps maintain and repair of skin tissues. Lack of Vitamin A will lead to a dry and flaky complexion. Fruits and vegetables are good sources for Vitamin A. With Vitamin B complex, the most important B vitamin is biotin as it is a nutrient that forms the basis of skin, nail and hair cells. Lack of biotin will lead to dermatitis and even hair loss. Biotin can be found in bananas, eggs, oatmeal and rice.

Zinc and silica are also good nutrients to help maintain a healthy skin. Zinc controls the production of oil in the skin, control some of the hormones that create acne and is required for the immune system to function properly. Lack of zinc leads to acne. Good food sources for zinc are fresh oysters, ginger, pumpkin seeds, pecans, Brazil nuts, oats and eggs. Silica is important in maintaining normal skin elasticity and healing of wounds. Good food sources for silica are leeks, green beans, celery, mango, strawberries, asparagus and rhubarb. Another important supplement for healthy skin is digestive enzyme supplements.

Digestive enzymes are proteins that break down food so it can be used by the body. Enzymes are found naturally in foods we eat and also available in supplement form. Digestive enzymes are essential for healthy skin because it helps improve skin, hair and nails by increasing the blood supply to the skin and body. Then better digestion also improves circulation, and circulation helps bring the right nutrients to the skin as well as clean the waste products that make skin dull and wrinkled.

So remember, creams, soaps and lotions are not enough to achieve and maintain a healthy complexion. You have to hit it both ways, both externally and internally. Vitamin, minerals, nutrients and digestive enzymes are the way to do these. Have a beautiful life. See ya!
