Rosacea is a skin infection which is common to light-skinned people. There are millions of people who have been affected by the condition worldwide. The disorder is mostly characterized by remissions and flare-ups and is potentially life-disruptive. At the early stages; which is normally at the age of 30 years, some redness starts to appear on the nose, cheeks or even on the forehead that may occasionally disappear and later on emerge. Sometimes, rosacea can also appear on the chest, breasts, ears and scalps.

As times goes on, the redness becomes more serious and uncomfortable. As the condition becomes more persistent, the blood vessels may start being visible. They may appear to glow around the forehead or the nose and deteriorates with time. This can be quite irritating especially when taking drinks in long glasses as the affected part of the nose may be painful with touch. Contrary to most of the people's conception that the infection is kind of adult acne rosacea, the condition can also be characterized by painful pimples.

Although anybody can be affected by rosacea, people with fair skin are the most affected by the condition. The infection is also more prevalent with women although extreme symptoms can be noticed with men than women. Basically, there is no cure for rosacea. However, there are medical treatments that are used to control the gravity of the infection. Rosacea can easily be contained if noticed and medical attention sought earlier. Therefore, if you suspect that you may be having the infection; it is recommended that you see a knowledgeable physician or a dermatologist for examination and appropriate treatment.

Basically, the rosacea treatment will depend on each patient's condition. There are various application gels and oral pills to be administered that are prescribed by health experts to contain the disorder. In most cases, dermatologists stipulate topical therapy and some antibiotic medicines; usually in form of pills to be taken orally. Intense rosacea condition can be treated with lasers, skin surgical devices or any other medical means of getting rid of visible blood vessels to lessen the redness or irritation on the skin.

A daily skin care practice can help contain rosacea skin condition. As a patient of rosacea you need to consult a health expert, especially a dermatologist to find out what is good for your skin and what is not. For instance, it is usually recommended to clean your face with a soft and non-abrasive fabric rinsed in warm water. Avoid using rough towel in drying the face but rather use a soft and thick one, preferably cotton.
