Snoring can not only disrupt the sleep of the person snoring, but also (and more frequently) it can disrupt the sleep of anyone in earshot. This can include spouses, roommates, and family members. This sleep disruption can cause problems in the relationships between the person who snores and the people affected by the snoring. There are several options available to help the cessation of snoring, a popular remedy is an anti-snoring pillow.

These pillows are designed to encourage proper alignment which keeps the airway open. Snoring is a result of air causing vibrations as it passed through a restricted airway. Keeping the airway unrestricted reduces the vibrations caused by the passage of air. Sleeping in a position that keeps the jaw forward, the chin elevated from the chest, and the spin aligned with the neck and head helps keep the airway as open as possible. A correctly designed pillow helps achieve this sleep position.

Sleeping on your side can be an easy way to reduce, if not eliminate, your snoring. Some anti-snoring pillows are designed to be placed behind the back while in a side-sleeping position. The pillow placement prevents you from rolling onto your back, which could lead to snoring. Other pillows that promote sleeping on your side are angled and placed between the thighs to properly align the spine in order to reduce airway restriction.

Other snore pillows are designed for either side-sleeping or back-sleeping use. These pillows typically have a center section that is lower than the surrounding sides. This lower center section keeps the chin raised from the chest, the jaw forward, and the head and neck in alignment with the spine. These pillows tend to be made out of foam which holds its shape better than natural or synthetic down and stays in place better as well, which means that the proper position is maintained through the night.

Eliminating snoring should not come at the expense of a good night's sleep for the person who snores. With the variety of anti-snoring pillows that are available, it should be possible to find one that is both comfortable and reduces snoring so that everyone concerned can sleep well.
