A parasite detox works to naturally cleanse your system of any parasites taking host within your body. You would be surprised with the number of people who become sick from catching one of the 3000 different parasites. Parasites are easy to pass from person to person or from pet to owner. According to the Worlds Health Organization, 3.5 billion people will suffer from some type of parasitic infection. Other estimates state that 85% of the population has parasites.

As overseas travel, immigration and food importation increase so does the opportunity for exposure and transmission of parasites. Many parasites are not visible to the naked eye so you are not aware of them. You can get them from food or water contaminated with the eggs and larvae of the parasite. Having parasites take up residence in your intestines and/or colon can cause multiple health issues and it may take more than one parasite detox to get rid of them.

How do parasites harm me?

Some parasites cause harm by causing irritation and others release toxins into your body causing all sorts of symptoms such as chronic digestive problems, fatigue, food and chemical intolerance, unexplained joint and muscle pain, itching skin, difficulty gaining weight, loss of appetite, depression and many others.

If you are unlucky enough to suffer with a bout of severe diarrhea and your doctor finds parasites then an antiparasitic drug is prescribed and the parasites are usually eradicated. But often intestinal parasites burrow into the lining of the bowel, do not cause such obvious symptoms and are hard to diagnose. Common labs do not have the specialized facilities needed to detect them. Specialized labs such as Genova Diagnostics or Metametrix are leaders in the field of parasite detection.

If you suffer from longstanding bowel problems that defies all treatment or for which no obvious reason can be found it is worth considering parasites as the cause and try a parasite detox.

Natural treatment of parasites

Many people prefer to use natural substances in place of drugs because of the side effects. It usually takes some time to restore the natural balance of bacteria in the bowel once anti-parasitic drugs have been used. Probiotics help prevent you being infected but will not eradicate parasites once infected with them.

There are plenty of herbs that have traditionally been used for eradicating parasites although this method may take longer. One of the most effective herbal combinations to include in a parasite detox is Wormwood Artemesia), the extract of the green hulls of black walnut and clove. There are many supplements based on this formula but Dr Hulda Clarke is credited with the original regime using these herbs. This combination will kill all stages of the parasite.

One of the main problems with the use of herbs for eliminating parasites is that they do not all kill the eggs and once the parasite detox is finished the eggs hatch out continuing the vicious cycle. For this reason herbal treatment for parasites is often repeated after a break of 4 - 6 weeks.

The parasite detox is best preceded with a bowel cleanse as they are hard to eradicate with herbal treatment alone if they are embedded in the intestinal wall. Green Clay is a natural bowel cleanse remedy that can be used but must be combined with some sort of fiber such as flaxseed or psyllium husk powder to push it through the gut or it is inclined to be constipating. Bentonite is another clay that is often found in bowel or colon detox supplements together with a other intestinal herbs such as cascara and burdock.

Cleansing your system at least once a year following eradication of parasites should help to prevent re-infection. Don't forget to take a high potency multistrain probiotic for several months after the parasite detox to repopulate your bowel. It will provide you with an abundance of health benefits.
