The number of people that smoke cigarettes in the United States these days has reached an all time high. With millions of Americans lighting up as much as a pack a day or more, the number of people with smoking related diseases have also increased. It seems that the amount of a pack of cigarettes has tripled in price over the past several years or so and you would think that people would start to realize that they desperately need to stop smoking, not just for their health, but also for the pocketbook.

There are so many people without insurance and the ones that do have insurance from their job say that the plan they have is not really insurance at all because of the things it does not cover. If you are a heavy smoker, the chance of developing a smoking related disease is almost a for sure thing at one point or another in your lifetime. Being able to stop smoking cigarettes may be the biggest challenge you will ever face in your life. Smoking cigarettes is one of the most addictive things there is to be hooked on. This addiction is not helped because it is still legal to buy cigarettes and just like any other drug addicted person who can not stop their habit, they continue to by cigarettes even at ridiculous prices.

With the health problems that are associated with smoking, it would seem that people would be laying cigarettes down instead of picking them up. The studies show that more people die from smoking than other natural death causes. This statistic alone should shock people into quitting them all together, but it has not seemed to slow smokers craving for this drug in anyway. This is very alarming to know, that with all the facts about smoking there is out there today, it has not stopped Americans from lighting up.

The aspect of not being able to breathe like a normal person that is half your age should be enough realization to make anyone top smoking. After you have smoked for several years, the damage that is done to the lungs will certainly begin to show. When you do something as simple as trying to climb one or flights of stairs without gasping for air, you should feel the damage you are doing to yourself. If you have tried this, you got your answer pretty quick when you did not make it to the top without being depleted of oxygen. There are many ways that people can break the habit of smoking and finding one before it is too late will be your best bet to have any kind of healthy and long lasting future.
