There are a lot of questions being asked about herpies so I wanted to cover some of the more major points. The following is meant to test your knowledge not to provide you fact. Can you determine what in this article is fact and what is fiction?
So lets begin the test, which of the following are fact?
1. It is true that you can spread genital herpes when you are showing no signs or outbreak.
This is Fact. Almost every case of Genital Herpes is spread this way. You can spread herpes during sexual intercourse even when no symptoms are present.
2. It is possible to have herpes and not even know that you do.
Another Fact. The herpes virus can exist in an active state hidden inside your body even with no symptoms surfacing.
In fact out of the 50,000,000 people that have herpies in the united states, over 85% of them dont even realize they have it.
It is people that do not take the extra care to get tested regularly that are the number one contributors to the spread of the virus. Hard to believe that people can be so careless but it is actually quite common.
3. You can contract herpes in public restrooms simply by making contact with the toilet seats. This is a Myth. The herpes virus cannot survive when exposed to air. This is one of the major reasons why sexual contact spreads the virus and simply hugging people etc does not.

4. If you have herpies and know it then you will never have a normal love life or sex again.
Myth! Of course using a condom is recommended but your sex life is not over just because you have been infected. The most important thing to know is that it is crucial to avoid sex if you are experiencing an outbreak either oral or otherwise. Furthermore you can still spread the disease via asymptomatic shedding.
This is a process by which particles of the virus can enter another person and infect them without exposing the virus to air and thereby killing it.
There are other methods to protect yourself if you are allergic to latex and cant use a condom. It should be noted that using a condom does not guarantee that you wont transmit.
