It is hard to believe that in many countries around the world they would think you crazy to want to lose weight. There are even cultures who prefer that their partner be what we would consider in the west overweight.
The overriding view in many western countries is that fat is bad, ironically it is the west that has the biggest obesity problem. We also have the highest rates or weight related illness such as heart disease.
One correlation you will find is that in countries where food is plentiful people are generally more overweight. Logically this would lead us to believe that we eat too much because food is cheaper and more plentifully available.
The problem is not that we have an overabundance of food, it is that the cheap food which we eat too much of and is made too available to us is the food that is most harmful to us. Go into any super market or drive down any high street, you see fast food available from food outlets, how many healthy food outlets can you count. In the supermarkets to offer are always on the unhealthy foods, seen many offers on fresh fruit and veg lately.
So now we understand why we have a problem with weight how do we fix it. There are many different diet plans and healthy eating plans that can help steer us in the right direction. It does not have to mean you need to give up all the foods that you like, dieting should not have to be a chore.
Once we understand how the body works and how it uses up and stores fat we can use this knowledge to help us achieve the body shape and size we feel more comfortable with. There are personal trainers such as Rob Nevins, dieticians, nutritionists and people in the industry who have spent the time to study the human body and learn how it works.
There are many misconceptions around food and weight loss that can hinder your goal of losing fat. Many people falsely believe that if you eat before going to bed the food turns into fat. It does not matter what time of day or night you eat, your body will process the food in exactly the same way.
Understanding how our bodies use food is half the battle to losing weight. If you are doing all the wrong thing due to inaccurate information then it is going to be much harder for you to lose weight and burn fat.
