For many women, menopause can be both good and bad. Not having to deal with her monthly cycle can be something of a blessing, but knowing that she will be unable to have children can bring about a sense of sadness even if she wasn't planning on more children. One thing that most women will agree on is that she can definitely do without the physical symptoms of menopause that follow with it! Between the hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, muscle ache and tenderness, and the some 30 or more physical problems she'll probably face, any woman many wonder just how she can lessen and even eliminate these problems. For those who aren't quite ready for hormone replacement therapy, there are some things you can do at home to help you with these common problems associated with this time of life.

Remedies for Calming

Menopause is a physical condition that occurs in the ovaries but also in the adrenal glands, the thyroid, and other areas of the human body as well. Understanding hormonal changes can help you understand why your body changes the way it does. These hormonal changes can cause the mood swings and irritability and with using calming herbs and other treatments this can of tremendously help. St. John's Wort and kava help to calm. Lavender does as well.

Managing your anger and irritability is another important part of controlling your symptoms of menopause. Just knowing that you're experiencing mood swings can help; telling yourself that your hormones are causing your levels of anger can help you get it back under control. While some may see this as being cold comfort, when you realize that this time of life is really what is behind your anger and not the situation at hand, you may be able to put things in proper perspective.

Lifestyle Changes

Keeping yourself as healthy as possible in other areas can help with the issues of this time of life. Eating right is important to keep your digestive system in order; many women experience indigestion because of their menopause and eating properly will help with this. It's also important to exercise regularly to keep your muscles free from tension and stiffness.

And remember to treat yourself well during the difficult time of life. If you have hot flashes, be sure to wear comfortable clothes and don't hesitate to bring a small fan into your place of work or keep some around the house. If you have mood swings, be sure to schedule some time for yourself so that you can relax and recharge your batteries. Be sure to get plenty of sleep and don't overextend yourself with responsibilities. By doing all of this you may not be able to stop menopause altogether but you can definitely lessen the symptoms some.

Soy Isoflavones may ease menopause symptoms for without creating estrogen related problems and may help regulate hormone levels in premenopausal woman.
