Trying To Undo The Damage You Have Done By Smoking Cigarettes

Do you really realize the many side affects from smoking? Us adults know of these side affects, but your young children might not. They only see what they want to see and seeing adults in their life smoking is always bad. They might see their friends smoking and the groups that they are hanging out with and they think the only way to get in these groups are to do the things they do including smoking. The really bad thing about all of this is once kids are talked into smoking, you do know what they could be talked into doing next. A child that picks up the smoking habit can be susceptible to picking up other deadly habits as well.

You really need to try to set good examples for your children and if you smoke, try to quit. There are so many side effects from smoking cigarettes and most young are not concerned with the risks because it takes a while to begin to notice the damage you are doing to your body. They run the risk of getting any or all of the cancers that can come from smoking. Once they do begin to notice the coughing and shortness of breath they will inevitably start to experience, they will likely already be addicted.

If you think you might have some of these cancers, you need to go to your doctor and have him run the tests to find out for sure. If he finds out that you do ask him if he thinks you are up to taking the treatments and try to start them as fast as possible. The sooner you start these treatments the more likely you might be able to fight it and win. All of these treatments will make you very sick and make you lose your hair. This would be a terrible way to have to prove to your teen that smoking is bad for you.

The best way to break the cycle of smoking in your family is to be the first one to quit. If you have a teen that has started smoking already, the best example you can set now is by quitting. Hopefully, they will follow this new example you are setting. When you do quit, it does not mean that others around you will be able to quit easily or quickly. You should support them as they try to quit and put rules in place like no smoking in the home or the car. Just because you set a bad example for your kids by smoking in the first place, does not mean it is too late to set some better ones.
