The growing need for an alternative medication to ADHD or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder has sprouted various natural methods to ease the symptoms of ADHD. One of the easiest is diet for ADHD. I say easiest because food is fairly easy to acquire. There were a lot of studies conducted that show the relationship between diet and ADHD. Many children diagnosed with ADHD have either nutritional deficiencies or a high level of sugar, MSG and gluten in their diet.

Not many are aware that sugar can aggravate your child's condition. So if you are wondering why your already hyperactive child is even more hyperactive by the minute, then you need only to look at what they are eating. The first step to a good diet for ADHD is to make an inventory of your child's daily food intake. This is important so that you will be able to point out the foods you are providing that can aggravate their condition.

What are the foods that your child has to steer clear from?

Sugar. Keep your child away from food with high sugar content. If it is impossible to stop your child from craving for sweets, try giving them fruits dipped in honey. Honey is a healthier substitute. But this does not mean that you can go crazy on the honey. Maintain the normal sugar level of your child and in this way, you can maintain and balance their hyperactivity.

High-mercury foods. We all know that mercury is a definite no-no to our body. It is toxic. But did you know that most seafood have minute mercury content? The mercury content is not enough to poison our body, but it can affect your child's concentration level. So try avoiding shellfish, king mackerel and sharks.

MSG. Most of us are aware that monosodium glutamate can harm our body in the long run. But as to the effects, a lot of us are still clueless. However, studies show that children who eat too much pizza and other salty dishes have a higher monosodium level and show more hyperactivity than usual.

Gluten. Some children, especially those diagnosed with ADHD, show sensitivity to gluten. This can cause irregularity in their body chemistry. Have your child checked for gluten sensitivity, or better yet remove gluten in their diet. You can find gluten in foods containing wheat, rye and barley. Maintaining a balanced diet is of utmost necessity not just for children with ADHD, but for everyone. But apart from this, you can help your child further by giving them natural homeopathic remedies.

Homeopathic remedies are the perfect partner to healthy diet because it only uses natural and drug-free ingredients such as Arsen Iod and Hyoscyamus. These ingredients can help alleviate your child's erratic behavior, improve their concentration and promote a good disposition in a safe and natural way.

Diet for ADHD is as important as giving them homeopathic remedies. Make sure that your child has both and they will be on their way to recovery.
