It is important for pregnant women to be very careful about what they put into their bodies and until a few years ago, everyday products like skin cleansers and shampoos were never one of the biggest concerns. Today more and more studies are being released proving the dangerous chemicals included in these personal hygiene products and this has pregnant mothers searching for natural alternatives.

Some of the most popular eco friendly products for moms and babies today are eco friendly towels. In the past as long as the towels and blankets were extraordinarily soft, they were good enough for a newborn baby but the same standards are not used today. There are organic cottons available today and therefore organic baby towels. These towels do not have the ability to put your baby's health at risk and as a new mother you can feel confident drying your new baby in this Green towel.

Some of the true but frightening facts about American cotton are more unknown than they are known.

* 55million pounds of pesticides are sprayed on cotton fields before it is harvested

* Only 10% of the chemicals within cotton are completing any purpose. Studies have shown that these chemicals simply get into the air, water and plants of the earth and of course eventually into our skin and bodies.

* It takes 1/3 of a pound of pesticides to create enough cotton for only one t-shirt

These facts are incredibly overwhelming and frightening. When you think about what you are wrapping your newborn baby in, you will never want to use anything but organic cottons again. In time these facts and statistics are only going to increase as the insect's tolerance level increase and the acres of cotton increases as well. As you can imagine there are serious health and environmental issues associated with pesticides and chemicals used to "Cleanse" the crops of harmful insects.

It can actually be more expensive to grow an organic crop today because of the greater care which must be taken in order to make sure the crop is not infected with insects or airborne diseases that pesticides would generally take care of. Farmer's are being provided more and more incentives to create organic crops in order to help reduce the side effects of pesticides and chemicals that get into the air, the food we eat and the fabrics we place on our bodies.

As a new mother you will find there is a great deal of retailers selling organic towels and blankets for babies. It is a good habit to get into and one you can easily carry out throughout the life of that child. Eliminate any possible health risks that can be prevented by choosing organic towels over regular cotton towels. This is a simple choice and is becoming more and more affordable for new mothers to invest with.
