If you were asked these two questions what would your answer be? If you could quit smoking would you and if you knew what you know now would you have ever started? If the answer to either of these questions is yes and the answer to the second question is no, then you must really try to quit or find someone to help you quit. There are several methods to try, but most of them do not seem to really help. Some of you can quit all my yourselves, but you also seem to be the ones to go back smoking once you realize that you can quit that easily.
Some of you seem to try and try to quit, but for some reason or another you can not. Some of these reasons might be you eat more so you gain weight, too much stress at work, home, or even school and then you find out that you have one of the cancers and you figure you are going to die anyway. You use these cigarettes or whatever you smoke as a crutch. You tell yourself that you just can not get through the day without one. You will make up reasons to go have one. Even if you really do not want one, you will end up going to smoke one anyway.
If you are really serious about quitting cigarettes, then you will need to go to your doctor and ask for his help. He will prescribe something for you to help with process of quitting and he also might be able to find a support group that can give you some extra help and understanding. With all of the help from your doctor and this support group you might try the gum, or trying sugar-free candy, chewing on toothpicks, match sticks, or even straws. Try to think of anything, but the need for a cigarette. If you want to, start putting the money you save by not buying cigarettes in a jar where you will see how much money you can save.
Go out and buy yourself a punching bag and set it up so that when you find yourself wanting one, you can hit this bag instead. You might find out that you have a strong arm and flatten this bag. You might even put a hole in it and have to go buy a new one. Getting over the cigarette addiction is the easy part as the nicotine will be out of your system in about three days. It is the habit of having something in your hands and having them busy that is the hardest part of quitting. So try to find your hands something to do to keep them busy.
