As most of you know, when you smoke cigarettes, you will eventually end up paying a price and we are not talking about how much they cost per pack. The makers of these things keep increasing the costs for you to buy them. They also put warnings on all of the packs and containers that they come in. You as a smoker probably do not even bother reading these warnings anymore as the nicotine in these cigarettes have become a habit. The habit is usually the hardest part of the quitting process. The nicotine is usually out of your system after a couple of days.
The biggest problem when trying to quit is what to do to keep your hands busy. You might have tried the candy, chewing on tooth picks or straws, chewing gum, even getting hypnotized. Most of the time you will usually find out that none of these work. There are now patches that your doctor will prescribe for you to use to help you break this need for the nicotine, but you will have to find what works in the means of keeping your hands busy. If you are afraid of gaining a few pounds because of quitting cigarettes, then you will need to find things to do that have nothing to do with food.
Some of you can quit by the cold-turkey method. This means that you will just stop altogether. For most of you this is usually impossible and with most out of the question. In some cases your doctor might tell you to not do it this way because you it can really stress you out trying to stop all at once. If this is the case, the doctor will tell you to slow down gradually, but this way will take you a lot longer. If you can quit cold-turkey, then by all means do so. This is the fastest way and if you can last three days at least the nicotine will be out of your system.
If your doctor tells you that you should quit, try to listen to him as he is telling you this for your own good. He does not want you to end up in the hospital anymore than you do. Chances are if you continue to smoke cigarettes, you will develop health issues later in life if they are not affecting you already. Quitting smoking might be very hard to do, but it is not nearly as difficult as dying slowly from cancer.
