Water is a source of life and we cannot do without it. Water though has impurities that make water unfit for human consumption. We cannot live without water but the water we take has to be clean before we take it or use domestically.

Making water clean is what we call water purification. Water can be purified in different ways the first method is through the water filter cartridges. These are used for commercial and also industrial purposes for purifying water. They contain a substance that eliminates bacteria and oily substances in water. Cartridges need to be changed regularly and also should be replaced to avoid overuse. They remove all the chemicals in water.

For domestic uses such as washing clothes water softeners are normally used. They are readily found in all stores near you. Normally water from boreholes is 'hard' it can be softened using water softeners which are found in liquid and solid form. Washing clothes can be tough using hard water but when the water is softened the work is eased. Bottled water is believed to be the best drinking water since it undergoes a series of purification stages that make it safe. One is because some of the bottled water is derived from springs and oasis which are a natural source of water.

Reverse osmosis water filter is another method of water purification that removes sodium components from drinking water though it provides 99% freedom of unwanted substances found in well and tap water. Doctors have recommended such kind of water. It is a more sophisticated and complicated way of purifying water, since it takes a longer time though it is more effective than other purifying methods.

Shower filter is another kind of water purification method. It ensures that water is safe for your skin and hair. Dirty untreated water may cause effects on our skins but the shower filter eliminates all the chlorine from the water and uses less plastic material than other filtration systems. Good tasting water can be done mostly by using water purifiers and filters which have alkaline ions that alter the acidic and lead contents in water.

Most people trust tapped waters much that they drink it without purifying it. It is important to know that boiling water does not make our water 100% clean. Disease such as diarrhea and typhoid can be caused by drinking untreated water. Prevention is better than cure so it is better to install these purifiers in our homes and spend less on water related diseases.
