The debate over second hand smoke is a very hot subject. People who do not smoke cigarettes say that the smoke from them is endangering their health. This issue has been through congress and has set off a
record number of reasons why second hand smoke in bad for the ones who do not smoke. There has been many laws past to protect other people from encountering cigarette smoke. Just to name one law that has been passed would be that smoking in public places is no longer allowed. The federal law and state laws are acting together to ensure the rights of non-smokers.
There are laws that have been passed that will no longer allow you to light up unless you are so many feet away from places like a hospital. After all non-smokers do have their rights too and should not be exposed to cigarette smoke where they have no way of getting away from the smoke. Congress has done a great job in protecting the rights of the ones who do not smoke cigarettes. But it seems that they have left out the rights of human beings that can not speak for themselves, at least not yet anyway. And that would be the rights of the children in the United States that are being exposed to this deadly killer.
If congress has passed laws to protect people from being exposed to cigarettes in public places, then they must be harmful to the health of everyone. But who is going to stand up and fight for the rights of the children that are being exposed to cigarette smoke in their own home? The children must not have any rights at all, seeing as how they are not old enough to understand what it is that their parents are subjecting them to. And that is second hand smoke, everyday millions of kids are exposed to cigarette smoke from their parents and they have no say so in their rights.
There could be no worse nightmare for a parent that smokes cigarettes to have their child develop something like cancer. Knowing that they could have contributed to the pain that their child is in from all the treatments that they are receiving from developing this disease, and the fact is that if you are smoking in the home where your children are present, you could be a deciding factor in your own kids life. Protect your children and their rights and do not subject them to second hand smoke.
