As children age, various warning signs for autism becomes more apparent. There are numerous symptoms out there, but they normally revolve on verbal and non-verbal challenges in interaction, and repetitive behaviors.

Autism is a disorder that involves the senses. Normally, it affects the way a person interacts or deals with others, and how he effectively communicates with them. The severity of the situation depends on the person involved. There is no definite cure to this disorder as of now, but there are lots of existing treatment options which are considered successful.

Identifying the symptoms of autism in a child can be a challenge. It's due to the fact that most signs are visible within the first year. However, most health providers can make diagnosis as soon as the child turns 3 or 4 years old. The reason behind this is that development of a child's social skills as well as communication skills do not occur at the same time. Some children develop faster than the others. In treating autism, its best to start at an early age to ensure success. Therefore, being able to detect the disorder is critical.

In identifying autism among toddlers, there are various characteristics that must be considered. Many people don't perceive babies as capable of communicating, but the fact is, they do. If you raise your eyebrow at a child, they will mimic your gesture. If you smile at them, they respond in kind. Infants and toddlers have an incredible ability recognize and respond to body language. Autistic children do not normally manifest this. It's possible that they won't maintain eye contact or respond by smiling.

Another factor that involves autism is repetitive behavior. This aspect in autism differs significantly than communication skills and social skills. It can be difficult to pinpoint this, so you have to be vigilant. For example, if your child has a toy truck and repetitively spins the wheels with his fingers while the truck is upside down, it's a possible sign. One more thing, if you observe your child habitually stacking or laying things out in a straight line, that can be another indication. These are some instances of repetitive behavior that is related to autism in children.

Attention is another identifying factor in autism among toddlers. A good example would be the absence of reaction from a child to a clown in a birthday party. Children with autism miss out on these things, they normally don't get excited, but rather, act aloof.

These symptoms should help most parents recognize autism in toddlers. Should they manifest, seek immediate professional help.
