There are millions of people who snore or suffer from sleep apnea every night, and there are millions more that wake up in the morning with back and neck pain who might benefit from using neck pillows. The pain is caused by misalignment and a lack of support, resulting in improper sleeping postures that put the body in positions that are not conducive to truly restful sleep. Those with sleep apnea or snoring issues also suffer from lack of good sleeping posture; the throat becomes lax while sleeping because it is not supported correctly, and it closes up. As the body tries to breathe, the air is forced through a narrowed throat, causing the snoring sound.

Neck pillows can help with these problems, and although they are not a cure all, they certainly do help many people with their different sleeping problems. Unfortunately a lot of people disregard the importance of having a pillow that offers the right amount of support, and they instead purchase the cheapest one they can find. The nice little cushions dont take long before they lose their fluffiness and instead become flat, unsupportive cushions. It is then time to buy another one. It may be more expensive up front to invest in good neck pillows, but the support they offer can reduce snoring and sore necks, and you wont have to replace them as often.

Did you know that as these cushions get older and lose their comfort and when they become lumpy, as much as 10% of their weight can be made up of dead dust mites and their droppings? Throw that pillow out! There are many new alternatives for the stuffings that include things like buckwheat hulls, which do not promote dust mites, so you may want to look into an alternative stuffed one for your bedtime. These are easy to care for as well, because to freshen them you remove and wash the cover, and lay the actual cushion in the sun every so often. They support your head, neck, and spine very well and never lose their shape.

Most of the sleeping problems that people suffer can be prevented by using neck pillows. There are those that are even filled with water, and unlike regular ones that force the head to remain in an unnatural position that is too high or too low, these cushions ensure that the head and neck are aligned correctly with the rest of the body. Any cushion that you use to rest on should be anywhere from 8 to 15 cm thick; any thicker and the neck will tilt forward and strain the back muscles and blood circulation to the brain even. Neck pillows can also prevent the swollen eyelids and uneasiness in the head that are common with these blood pressure problems.
