We have all experienced the symptoms of a cold, the flu and aggravating allergies. Symptoms like chest congestion and a dry and irritated throat can bring you down and simply cause you to feel bad all the way around. Like many, you may treat these symptoms with over the counter medications that make you feel drowsy, tired or even hyperactive. These are common side effects of many of these types of drugs for the relief of symptoms associated with this kind of ailment. Such side effects tend to get in the way of your daily activities and have an adverse effect on your performance.

Fortunately, nature provides a variety of alternative herbal remedies for the alleviation of symptoms associated with colds, flu and allergies. Natural herbal remedies used with an herbal vaporizer can provide all of the symptom relief of over the counter drugs without the dreaded side effects common to using the OTC's. Many natural herbs can be used alone or in a mixed blend to create soothing and even antibacterial vapors to treat sore, dry and irritated throats, congestion of the chest and sinus cavities, and create an overall sense of well being which is shown to aid in the healing process.

Whether using a room vaporizer or a direct inhalation vaporizer, natural herbal remedies are found in the vapors created by these devices by using the proper plant materials. A popular choice of herbal oil used to relieve the symptoms of a dry, irritated throat is eucalyptus oil. Eucalyptus oil is best used in a room vaporizer to create a mist that hydrates the air in the room and creates soothing, breathable vapors. Eucalyptus also releases anti-microbial elements into the air that reduce the growth of certain bacteria. This, in turn, aids in the healing process as airborne germs are destroyed.

Other popular natural herbs that greatly reduce or alleviate symptoms of cold, flu and allergies include sage, thyme and ginger. Using sage in a direct inhalation vaporizer has proven to be an outstanding remedy for a sore throat. Thyme is known as a natural herb that strengthens the lungs and thereby aids in the treatment of a cough and chest congestion. For nasal congestion and the associated pain of sinus pressure, ginger is an excellent herbal remedy for symptom relief. By using any or all of these herbs in an herbal vaporizer, you gain the benefit of alleviating symptoms without the negative side effects.
