There is a big controversy going on about the new electronic cigarettes. Doctors, scientists, and of course, a few of those people who have to put there two cents worth in about everything even though they might not even be qualified to make a sound decision other than their own personal opinion, are all debating on the safety of using electric cigarettes and whether or not they are better to use than tobacco cigarettes. There are people on the negative side and they could possibly be the drug companies who have not yet found a way for themselves to cash in on this product and the tobacco companies who stand to lose considerably if smokers start using electric cigarettes rather than their brands of deadly products.

There has been research done on electronic cigarettes and the information that has been found about them seems to be more on the positive side rather than the negative; that is in comparison to traditional cigarettes. Traditional cigarettes contain much more than tobacco. They are absolutely loaded with all kinds of chemicals that definitely were not ever added to the tobacco that Native Americans smoked. Today tobacco cigarettes have formaldehyde, arsenic, and a host of other harmful things and why are they in tobacco in the first place? These are more than likely the cause of many of the diseases that smokers get. While no one is going to argue when it comes to the very real fact that people should not smoke anything, but if there is a better, much less harmful alternative for smokers who are not going to quit, why should they not be allowed to choose that product instead of the still, and probably always will be legal, far more deadly one?

The nicotine in electronic cigarettes are made up mostly of water, alcohol, nicotine, propylene glycol, and flavorings. That is pretty much it. They do not produce real smoke, only water vapor that is thought to not even be dangerous to others around you. There is no odor or no sticky tar residue because they do not produce tar. They come with a charger that is used to keep the battery sticks glowing on the end to resemble fire, but they are never lit and will not start a fire. They taste and feel like you are smoking a real tobacco cigarette without all of the second hand smoke, stink, and tar that builds up in your lungs, homes, and cars.

There are already plenty of people who are using these electric cigarettes even though they have not yet been given the the go ahead by the FDA; which is really ridiculous because so many other stop smoking materials have nicotine and are perfectly legal to buy. Electronic cigarettes, although could help some people stop smoking tobacco cigarettes, are not marketed as a stop smoking device, but rather for those that want a better way to smoke. At the very least the electric cigarette will stop the mounds of cigarette butts that are discarded by smokers everyday and are polluting everywhere as the filters for an electric cigarette are refillable. They should be given the right to choose the electric product over the deadlier one if they want to.
