A number of acne scar removal techniques are available for almost every type and every level of severity of scarring. However, it is much better if you don't need to use any of these removal techniques since most of them can be quite expensive and some procedures can be even painful. The best way is to prevent pimple scarring so that you won't have to find out how expensive and how bothersome some of these procedures can be.

If you want to avoid undergoing acne scar removal procedures, follow the advice for preventing scarring enumerated below.

1) Don't pick your pimples. Keep your hands off your zits. Don't make a habit of picking, rubbing or touching them. This will only make the condition worse and can lead to scarring.

2) Address the problem at the onset. Don't wait until your pimple problem becomes severe; seek the help of a dermatologist immediately once breakouts start. Scarring is practically inevitable once acne reaches the severe stage.

3) Don't use rough towels and facial scrubs. It is better if you use a fabric softener on your towels. Rough cloths can only aggravate pimples. Don't scrub your face. Scrubbing won't make it cleaner, it will only damage your skin and might cause scarring. When you use a towel on your face, gently pat it dry instead of wiping it.

4) Don't use harsh soaps and too much makeup. If you really need to use makeup, use it sparingly. If your skin is dry, choose moisture-rich types. For oily skin, water-based cosmetics should be used. Soaps that are heavily scented are usually made of strong ingredients. If you use soap on your face, choose mild and unscented ones.

5) Avoid too much direct sun exposure. Contrary to some claims, sunlight does not cure acne. Although we do need to have a bit of sunlight from time to time, going out unprotected between 10AM and 4PM is not exactly what our skin needs. If you need to go out at these times, wear a wide-brimmed hat or use an umbrella.

6) Don't use medications that are not recommended by doctors. If a friend recommends an ointment or an oral remedy that has worked for him or her, don't be tempted. They might have worked for your friend or colleague, but it doesn't mean that it will work for you. Using medications without consulting a doctor first might cause adverse reactions. Sometimes, scars are actually caused by unsuitable acne medications.

7) Eat right and drink lots of water. The right diet can strengthen your immune system and help you fight bacterial attacks. Don't make an acne problem worse by living on junk and fatty foods. A healthy body can help keep zits at bay. No pimples, no fear of scars.

You don't need acne scar removal procedures if you address skin problems before they become worse. Always remember that prevention is key to fighting any disease; and that includes skin-related conditions.
