When you do quit smoking, start exercising more as you will be able to do so. When you do to eat, start by eating more fresh fruit and stay away from all of those fatty foods. Try to stay away from most of the fast food places, but if you do go into one try to find the least fattening thing on their menu. Many fast food places are now offering healthier alternatives to a burger and fries. You can use snacking as a means to help you quit smoking, but they have to be low calorie, healthy snacks. Plain popcorn with perhaps a dab of salt is good for munching on if you are not a carrot stick person.
You need to find some hobby that will keep you so busy that you just forget about having this cigarette. Try to find a hobby that you really like and will want to do. Make sure it is something you can not do while you are smoking, like swimming or gardening. Try something active like learning how to dance or it might be a sport. It is harder to think about smoking if you are engrossed in something else. When you have stopped smoking for a week or two, you will find that you have better breathing and hopefully more energy to do whatever you want. You sill likely begin to feel better about yourself.
