Hypertension, better known as "high blood pressure", is a disease acquired from a person's way of living. It can be obtained from foods and vices like smoking and heavy alcohol drinking. Other factors that increase the risks of hypertension are obesity and inactive lifestyle. Hypertension is also is hereditary, meaning it can be acquired if there is a history of the disease in the family. The danger of hypertension is the fact that it is a "silent" disease, so described because the symptoms don't show. If not controlled, it may lead to stroke and heart attack.

Nowadays, unconventional therapists use different foods and herbs for high blood pressure as an alternative form of treatment instead of common synthetic drugs. Some of these foods and herbs known to fight high blood pressure include garlic, ginger, cinnamon, skullcap, hawthorn, nutmeg, cardamom, and valerian. You could also take slim control pills which are usually made with green tea and other ingredients that boost your metabolism.

In fact, the most common advice that you will get from doctors in order to control hypertension is to lose weight. Most people who suffer from hypertension are obese. If you are more than 20 to 30 percent over your normal body weight, you are then considered obese. Losing weight reduces your risk of hypertension.

As part of your effort to slim down and improve the health of your heart, it is important to watch the foods that you are eating. Foods that are high on sodium (salt), cholesterol and saturated fat can increase blood pressure. To neutralize these substances, you should increase your intake of foods that are rich in calcium and potassium. These foods include fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy products, fish and nuts. Red meat and sugary foods should be avoided as much as possible. If you cannot give up eating these foods entirely, try to eat in moderate amounts and use slimming pill or similar product to help curb your appetite.

As you work towards losing weight, you greatly reduce the chances of developing hypertension. And if you have already been diagnosed with high blood pressure, there is no perfect time than right now to take control of your own health. With a realistic weight loss plan that includes proper diet, exercise and supplemented with safe weight loss products like slimming pills, you can look good and feel great not just for a few months but with results that can last a lifetime.
