When the weather turns warm, it is the time when you can become burned by the sun. As most of us like a tan color on our skin, you will go to all lengths to get one. You might try to get one by laying out in the sun with one of the many ways and lotions to achieve a tan. Some of you might not have the time to lay out in the sun so you might try the tanning beds. No matter which way you go to get that tan, you can be subject to a nasty burn. The intensity of the damage to your skin will depend on the severity of the burn.

If you plan to be in water or even just out in the yard for a couple of hours, you should always put on some sun block. This will keep your body from becoming burned. You will need to keep plenty of water to drink on hand to keep yourself from dehydrating. If your body starts to feel really warm, it is telling you it is time to go inside or to at least get in a shaded area for a time. If you happen to be in the water, this could happen a lot sooner sometimes as the sun bounces off the water and you can get a stronger exposure.

You really need to watch the amount of time that you are out in the sun, even on a cloudy day because you can still get a burn. On cloudy days you might also be exposed to the wind and this can also cause you to burn because you might feel cooler in a wind, but the rays of the sun might be just as strong.
You could get a worse burn depending on what time of the day it is. The sun is usually in the highest part of the sky at or between the hours of 10 and 3 o'clock. If you happen to be working out of doors between this time be extra careful. You might want to cover your heat to help prevent a heat stroke, especially if you are an older adult or even small children.

If you happen to get a really bad burn, you might have to go to a doctor to give you something for the fire in your skin. There are many things that you can buy over the counter for burns, but you need to make sure that the stuff you buy is the right stuff for a sun burn. If the burn is really red and starting to look infected, get with your doctor as soon as you can. This burn could develop into something much worse.
