Walking and running are among the easiest and most helpful exercise you can engage to lose weight, relieve stress and stay fit. Taking a brisk walk or run in the morning also refreshes the body and put it into a good shape for the activities throughout the day. If you also want to do a fitness program but you do not know where to start or you do not know what to do, walking is one easy way to start being fit. Though there are many health benefits of walking and running, it is always wise to consult your doctor for some recommended level of exercise that is helpful for you if you have an existing medical condition.

Indeed walking gives you a better body, as it keeps your circulation going and make your system work on its best. Even if you are at home, you can do the walking too. You can climb up the stairs, move around the house and just keep your self out of the couch and keep moving. You can also find good exercise at home and some stretching exercises to complement your walking so you can get your body moving.

When it comes to the health benefits of walking and running, there are definitely countless.

Walking burns body fat by improving your metabolism and reduces the LDL cholesterol which is the main culprit in most heart attacks, as it cause blockage of the arteries. It is also the reason why walking helps lower the blood pressure. Regular brisk walking is also seen to reduce the risk of stroke. Walking not only protects the heart as well as the circulatory system but it helps prevent osteoporosis, as it strengthens the bones and joints, and it also eliminates back pain and arthritis.

Studies have also showed that one of the health benefits of walking is that, it reduces the risk of breast cancer as well as colon cancer is lowered by moderate exercise like walking. Even for those who have undergone chemotherapy, studies showed that walking also lessens the side effects of chemotherapy. With improved strength and coordination through walking, you are also able to deal with less injuries and fractures.

Aside from the physical benefits it can give you, walking and running can also improve mental health as it can improve self-esteem, lessens depression and anxiety and in general, walking or running just make you feel good and relieves stress. Walking also facilitates the release of toxins from your body.

If you love the outdoors and enjoy the morning breeze, you can do both activities on a place where you can see lots of greens and lesser smog and you can even get to do the activity with some friends to make it more fun. You can also do it indoors in a treadmill if you can't find a good place to walk around the neighborhood.

So if you want to get your body moving and functioning at its best, get those pair of sneakers and start walking. Be sure to choose the right pair of shoes and keep hydrated. However, check first with your doctor if you are ready for running. If not, you can also settle with walking. Make sure you are eating healthy as well.

Find a group of friends you can share the activity with to make it fun while getting fit. Not only will you get the most of the health benefits of walking, but it will also give you benefits in making good friends.
