There are many ways that people like you do to try to quit smoking. Some achieve their goal while many of you do not. As you all know, it is not easy to break this habit. Many people are able to simply stop cold turkey and never smoke cigarettes again, but many others are not successful trying to quit this way. Most of you have probably tried several of the other methods with little or no luck. The key to quitting smoking and being successful with it is that you really have to want to stop.

There are many reasons to quit. Cleaning the tar out of your lungs so they can heal themselves is a great reason to quit. Preventing second hand smoke from damaging your children and friends is another one. Then there is the fact that the places you can smoke these days are so limited, it is really almost too much trouble to smoke. The cost of all the cigarettes you smoke in a day is a financial reason to quit. The best reason by far is to improve your health. There are several things on the market that you can try and even your health professional can help you to find things that might help. You would be surprised by the things that some people will use to cut down on or eliminate smoking tobacco.

You might have tried some of these things yourself, like sucking on hard candy or chewing gum. Some of you have even tried chewing on toothpicks or straws. These tactics rarely work and most of you will go back to smoking. Many people are afraid to stop smoking cigarettes because they believe they will gain weight and this happens to a lot of smokers that try to quit. This is because they stop the bad habit of smoking and take up the bad habit of overeating to replace the smoking. Bad idea.

If you smoke, keep trying to find ways to quit because eventually you will find a way or a product that will help you stop. You will feel so much better in the end. If you need help go to your doctor and ask them to help. They might can suggest some things that you might not even know about. Sometimes joining a stop smoking support group can be helpful or quitting with a spouse, relative, or friend could be your key to success. The most important thing is to not give up. The sooner you stop smoking tobacco, the sooner you will have longer to live your life.
