Well, you have decided that you are spending far too much money on your smoking habit each week and you are sick of wasting so much cash that you could be using for other much more important things. The cost of cigarettes continue to go up all of the time and it is not likely that the cost of a pack will ever drop again, but continue to get more and more expensive. If you have tried to quit completely and have failed several times, you might even be afraid to try again because you believe you will just fail to kick the habit one more time. Why not try a different approach?
One of the reasons that so many people fail to quit smoking cigarettes is the pressure that they put themselves under. They try to stop cold turkey and maybe even use nicotine patches or gum that rarely work for most people in the end. Using these products costs a small fortune and usually you have just wasted your money. They do not address the main problem which is the habit of doing something with your hands and putting something in your mouth.
One way you might can help cut back on the money you spend on cigarettes is to smoke less cigarettes. You might think this will be too difficult too, but you might be surprised at how easy it can be when you learn to take it one step at a time, one cigarette at a time. Just ask yourself each time you start to light one up a few easy questions;
1.Has is been less than an hour since you smoked your last cigarette?
2.Are you going somewhere that you will not want to smell like cigarette smoke?
3.Are your children or other people around you that will be harmed or offended if you smoke?
4.Do you really want to smoke if you are in your home or car?
5.If you smoke your last cigarette before bed, will you have to go to the store in the morning?
6.How many cigarettes have you already smoked today?
7.Can you make it for a little while longer without smoking?
8.Are you trying to make this pack last you a little longer than the last one?
9.How much do you really want one?
10.Is your craving intense or could you just be lighting one because you can?
Just asking yourself some of these things can cause to to postpone smoking one cigarette at a time. You might not think this is a big deal, but if you program yourself to do this the same way you have programmed yourself to smoke, it might even be a way to help you learn to stop smoking completely and would that not be great? Then you could be saving all of that valuable money you have been wasting for years!
