Mold does not discriminate it can be found it a clean house as well as a dirty one. The truth is that mold does not look to breed in dirt, but rather damp dark areas. People like to associate mold with filth, but that is just a myth. The tiny little organisms known as mold are everywhere, but if you practice proper mold elimination you can rid yourself of these nasty little growths forever.

Before mold has stuck itself down on a damp surface you will not be able to see it. It can travel effortlessly through the air and will never be detected.

Proper deterrence of mold growth

There are several things that you can do to deter mold growth in your home. One way to inhibit mold is to keep your entire home dry and very well ventilated. Once the growth of mold begins it can spread fast.

Doing regular mold checks in your home will help to catch mold as soon as it begins. If you find that your ceiling or windows have been leaking recently you may want to check a bit more often.

Stay away from adhering things like wallpaper and character cutouts to your walls. The adhesives that is found on the back of these types of things take a long time to dry since air cannot get to them promoting the growth of mold and mildew.

Keep all of your wood furniture away from any dark or potentially damp places. When mold starts growing on a wooden surface it can get out of hand quickly. Getting mold off of these surfaces is almost impossible and it will likely result in the loss of a good piece of furniture.

How to get rid of mold

Getting rid of mold can be much easier than your think. As long as you are checking for mold often you should be able to clean it quickly. Don't forget that mold can grow on the outside of your house as well as the inside.

You can use a simple mix of bleach and soap based detergent to wipe mold away from your walls and ceiling. Once cleaned, it is advised that you paint over the area with a mold inhibiting paint product.

Areas in the bathroom are often breeding grounds for mold growth. You will want to check the inner shower curtain liner as it is a perfect place for mold to hide out.

Wearing a mask and gloves while cleaning mold will keep you safe from its toxic affects of mold. Don't forget to open a window if you are cleaning in a small enclosed area.

Letting mold go for too long will cause it to become far worse than you can ever handle on your own. There are professionals who deal with such things and they will come in and remove the mold from your home. If you ever see a fruit body or dark black mold, stay away. This type of mold can cause long term health problems as well as death.
