Everyone has faults one one kind or another. Some more than others. Some of you might smoke and drink to excess. There are several other things that you might be doing also. Some of these things will not get you in trouble and then again any bad habit can in some way. There are some habits that are against the law and then the others are perfectly legal even though they are harmful to you. Smoking cigarettes is one of the most common bad habits that end up causing some very serious problems for those that do it even though it is perfectly legal to smoke. However, there are many restrictions placed on smoking just anywhere these days.

Cigarettes are definitely habit forming and in most cases very hard to stop. It is hard to understand why it is still legal to smoke cigarettes. Nothing good has ever came from anyone smoking. If they were illegal, it might not stop people from smoking, but it could very well dissuade some people to never start and many people would likely quit if they knew they would be fined for being caught doing it. Smoking cigarettes could be considered much the same as smoking marijuana. Although you can get higher from smoking marijuana, the health affects are just the same. Some people do not think they can become addicted to marijuana, but this must be a myth because once people start smoking it on a regular basis, it can be very difficult for them to stop as well as people who smoke cigarettes.

Why is one bad substance legal and the other is not? It really makes no sense at all. If both things are smoked and both things can cause deadly diseases, why is it alright to do one and not the other? Some believe it is because people to get high from marijuana, but those addicted to nicotine get a certain type of physical satisfaction from smoking tobacco as well. Truth be told, there are probably a lot more people dying because they smoked cigarettes than because they ever smoked marijuana. This is not to say that legalizing marijuana would be the right thing to do. It is more like tobacco laced with all kinds of chemicals maybe should be outlawed as marijuana already is. People who smoke cigarettes might be inclined to disagree, but then those that smoke pot would like nothing better than to have it legal to use.

There has recently been new bills passed that allow the FDA to oversee the packaging and contents of cigarettes, but is this really going to make any difference if people are still allowed to smoke? Why are they even going to the trouble to try and regulate a product that is so deadly? It is thought by many to be a double standard when tobacco continues to be legal to use while marijuana is outlawed. Sometimes it is just difficult to understand the logic of some of the laws in our country.
