You have got to be kidding! This is the oldest excuse in the book for someone that smokes in order to delay trying to quit. It will be easier tomorrow, things are just too stressful right now, I have too much going on at the moment. All of these are the reasons that a smoker will say is why they can not start the quitting process right now. There is no better time to stop smoking than right now and the longer you wait, the harder it will be, and the more damage you will be doing to your health.

When someone is really determined to stop smoking, they will not continue to make excuses. For those that are still waiting on a good time, they are probably not ready to make the commitment that it is going to take to be successful. It is not that the time is not right, it is that they are not ready. Some people will put off trying to quit for years even though it is something they really want to do. This can be because they have heard so many horror stories about how awful it is to try to stop smoking. They think they are going to be in agony and suffer a nervous breakdown because they can not have a cigarette.

Of course, quitting is probably not going to be a walk in the park. You are going to be tempted to slip up and chances are, you will. That does not mean you have failed, only that you slipped up, that is all. You might get a little anxious without smoking, especially at times like after meals or first thing in the morning. When you are driving or talking on the phone might be aggravating too. It will take time and you might be prone to be irritable at yourself and others. Hopefully, your loved ones will appreciate your trying to quit smoking enough to put up with you until you have reached your goal.

So yes, even though quitting is likely to be one of the toughest things you might try to do, it will still be better than some of the horrible things you could probably end up enduring later in life because you continued to smoke. Just think how horrible it will be to lie in bed for months, too weak to move and throwing up profusely because of your cancer treatments. Think how annoying it is going to be to have to travel around with an oxygen bottle hanging off of your shoulder. Just imagine the grief and misery it is going to put your family through when they have to stand by and watch you die a slow agonizing death all because you were afraid of the discomfort of trying to quit smoking. Do you think that maybe now is the right time after all?
