Since the first announcement of swine flu in Mexico all those months back, the virus has slowly been spreading throughout the world. We already know that the health organisation have classed this as a pandemic. If we take a look at the trends and rates of infection throughout the UK you can see how much of a huge increase it has taken.
Ministers have already warned that by the end of August when the summer finishes, the UK could be hit by around one hundred thousand new cases every single day. The UK has already stopped trying to contain the disease because it has become uncontrollable and is now concentrating on treating the people that have been infected.
Authorities have stated that people should be taking more precautions not to spread the virus and have also warned against buying the treatment drug Tamiflu online, as there could in fact be a lot of counterfeits. Authorities have again said that there is enough stock in the UK that people can have access too.
They have said that not enough advice is being followed. Some parents were even taking their kids to so called Swine flu parties, in order to try and get their kids immunised from the virus. But again they have been warned against this because it will only get more serious and cause massive spread, which could ultimately see the UK run out of treatment. British Medical Association expert Dr Richard Jarvis said, "I think parents would want to take into account that the flu - although this particular strain is relatively mild for the most part - is something that will knock people off their feet for a few days and we are seeing appreciable morbidity, severe side-effects and sadly the occasional death".
People have just got into their minds that they would rather pick up the flu now before it does mutate and becomes a lot more aggressive. People are constantly thinking that if they catch the disease now then they will be able to actually become immune and get the relevant treatment while there is currently enough.
I personally think that this coming winter everyone should be careful to avoid public and busy places such as buses or trains, as these are the places that are potentially going to spread the virus a huge amount. If one single bus load of people got infected then this could actually spread to hundreds if not thousands of more people.
