Back pain can strike unexpectedly and leave you in pain and defenseless. Back pain is, however, very common. In fact, according to research, back pain will affect nearly 80% of Americans at some point in their lives. With nearly 80% of the people coming down with this common but painful problem there must be help out there to relieve people from their suffering.

There are many types of back pain problems. Some people may have sciatica, lower back pain, middle back pain or upper back pain. When someone says, 'Oh, my aching back!' it is usually followed by a trip to the medicine cabinet to grab the nearest over-the-counter pain reliever. Your back pain might be even more serious than what the over-the-counter pain reliever can handle. So, you make a trip to your primary care physician's office.

Your primary care physician may give you a prescription for an even stronger pain reliever so you are not suffering anymore. However, there may be a nagging feeling that you are not actually treating your back pain. You are finding relief from the symptoms but what happens when you stop taking the prescription drugs? You will still have the problem that was there in the first place. Here is the answer that many are looking for: Chiropractic.

Chiropractic is a health care profession that deals specifically with musculoskeletal disorders. Chiropractors are trained to diagnose and treat all disorders of the spine. They will never prescribe medication. In fact, chiropractors believe in a more natural approach to healing meaning no drugs or surgery.

Chiropractic has been around for a while - over a hundred years. It was founded by D.D. and B.J. Palmer who saw a link to spinal health and overall wellness. That was the beginning and here we are now over a hundred years later.

Chiropractic has been remarkably effective in treating low back pain. In addition to your treatment regimen of spinal manipulation, your chiropractor may also recommend therapeutic exercises that will help to strengthen your low back and abdominal muscles. This will help prevent future back pain problems.

Your chiropractic physician is much like other physicians. You will come in and fill out a patient health history form which the doctor will review thoroughly. He may also require that you take x-rays. This will help determine exactly where the dysfunction lies in the low back. He may also suggest nutritional and lifestyle changes that will complement your healing.

If you are looking for a drug-free and surgery-free approach to healing, as many are nowadays, then chiropractic may be just what you are looking for. Chiropractors have helped many people find relief from their back pain and they do it a non-invasive manner without the need of prescriptions. You may not have to suffer in vain any longer from your back pain. Give chiropractic a try.
