There has been much controversy about the electronic cigarette, which is a handy little device that mimics the act of smoking a traditional tobacco cigarette. Although this device was created in May of 2004, it has only recently started to gain more and more popularity in the United States as vendors are buying them out of country and making them available on websites, mall kiosks, and retail shops in shopping centers.

The benefits of the e cigarette are many, and many users have realized its advantages from the very first use. The e cigarette is composed of three parts: the atomizer, the cartridge, and the battery. It is powered up by a battery that can be recharged with an in-wall plug or even a car charger, and this battery supplies energy to the atomizer, which heats up the liquid solution inside the cartridge.

One of the e cigarette's greatest features is the liquid solution. The liquid solution contains about 10 to 20 ingredients and includes propylene glycol, artificial and natural flavors, and nicotine. For those who do not want the nicotine in the solution, many vendors offer no nicotine. When compared to the ingredients in a tobacco cigarette, it's easy to see which one is better because cigarettes contain additives that are toxic and are even known to cause cancer. When these ingredients are burned, over 4,000 chemicals can be found in the smoke and can include such toxic chemicals as ammonia, tar, and formaldehyde.

As of right now, there are no rules to regulate the usage of e cigarettes in public so they can be smoked in public or even in restaurants. At first, people might be shocked but even owners of restaurants and other public venues were more than happy to find out that the vapor that is emitted from the e cigarette is not harmful or toxic in any way. The vapor is odorless and does not even contain any nicotine. Anybody who has felt guilty about smoking around their loved ones can now "light up" in front of them without putting their family's or friends' health at risk.

If you are a chain smoker, you can testify to how expensive it is to maintain your habit, but e cigarettes are much cheaper and more affordable. Of course, the initial investment will be a little pricey because a typical starter kit, which contains all the parts of the device plus a charger and refill cartridges, can run you anywhere from $50 to over $100. You will, however, see the savings in the long run because what you would spend on a typical 20 to 25 pack of cigarettes would only cost you anywhere from $1.50 to $2.00, whereas each pack costs anywhere from $3.00 to even $5.00 in some places.

Whatever your reason for smoking, there is a healthier, cheaper, and more conscious option. Try out the e cigarette today and see if it's for you.
