Ugh! Back pain is the worst. You can't sit up. You can't lie down. You can't get comfortable in any position. Back pain can start as a dull pain and end up leaving you in bed and incapacitated. There is a solution to your suffering. Chiropractic is a very safe and effective way to treat back pain.

What are some of the causes of back pain?

There are many reasons why people have back pain. In fact, nearly 80% of Americans will experience back pain at some point in their lives. That is a lot of people in pain. Why? Well, back pain can come from straining the muscles and ligaments. This could occur from lifting something heavy improperly or a sudden awkward movement.

Sometimes there are other problems like a bulging or ruptured disc. Discs in between the vertebrae act like jelly donuts. They are cushion-like but have a fluid center. When there is a problem or a rupture that can press on a nerve and cause pain.

Sciatica is another back condition. This term is used for when a disc that has herniated has pressed on a nerve and then the pain has traveled down the leg. Sciatica can be quite painful.

Arthritis is another reason. When people are affected by osteoarthritis one of the places affected is the back.

What can a chiropractor do for me?

Seeing a chiropractor for your back pain is about the best thing that you could do. A chiropractor has the training and expertise in treating back pain disorders. They have trained extensively to know how to diagnose and care for any musculoskeletal problems.

Chiropractic has been around for over a hundred years and studies have shown that it has been remarkably effective in treating low back pain. And, chiropractic is non-invasive and drug-free. Chiropractors prefer a natural approach to healing where the body is assisted through manipulation to do what it already knows how to do - heal itself.

The body wants and craves balance. Chiropractic calls it homeostasis. When your body is out of whack or imbalanced it will send you messages (sometimes very painful ones!) that let you know that your body is out of balance. Chiropractic helps to bring you body back into a state of balance.

Most people want to do all they can to avoid surgery. If this is something that you want to avoid then chiropractic is the answer for you. Many people have avoided surgery simply by choosing chiropractic over the traditional medical model. There are many people now that do not want to have to rely on over-the-counter or prescription pain medication. This is all possible through chiropractic.

If you are in pain and want to find a health care provider that will treat you as a whole person and not just a series of symptoms then chiropractic is for you.
