With so much out there to enjoy, baby boomers are looking gladly toward their "fabulous fifties." Men and women in their fifties and sixties have so much more to look forward to than any other aging generation ever has. Even though folks in their 50's are younger today than they ever were before, they still must face the issue of aging skin. Taking the right steps, however, can help prevent rapid aging of the skin.

Step 1 - Recognize the Signs of Aging
By recognizing the changes in you skin, or knowing what to expect, you can deal more effectively with what your skin is likely to do after you turn 50. Below is a list of common symptoms and skin issues that people over 50 years of age typically describe:

- Lines and wrinkles may start developing into skin folds
- Sagging and droopy skin, especially in "jowl" area
- Skin tone tends to become more uneven
- Increased number of "sun spots," also known as "liver spots"

Step 2 - Take Preventative Measures
The best way to have the most radiant skin possible after 50 is to start taking preventative measures way earlier in life. Though you may feel that it is too late to start this now, it is never too late to prevent further damage. One of the most effective things you can do to protect your skin from damage is to stay out of the sun. Stay in the shade, or protect yourself with sunblock, sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat and anything else you can think of to keep the sun's rays off your skin. Also, try to avoid exposing your skin to harsh chemicals such as those found in swimming pools and Jacuzzis, etc.

Step 3 - Your Skin Care Ritual
Treat your skin kindly, and it will return the favor. Dedicate at least 15 minutes each morning or night to your beauty routine. Commit to making it a habit by caring for your skin every single day. If you haven't stopped doing it yet, now is a great time to stop going to bed without properly removing makeup, cleansing, toning and moisturizing your face.

Best results can be achieved by developing not only a nighttime skincare ritual but a morning ritual (including application of sun protection) as well.
Your skin care routine will depend on your specific skin type and how much it actually requires.

The types of products you use in your beauty ritual will also depend on what's best for your skin. Consult with a dermatologist or skin care consultant for specific recommendations. For skin over 50, the following beauty routine is a good starting point.

- Wash skin with a rich cream or emulsion based cleanser
- Tone skin with a gentle skin freshener such as rosewater
- Apply moisturizer with SPF and anti-aging benefits
- Apply anti-aging night cream to face, neck and backs of hands
- Apply anti-aging eye cream

Take the time to care for your skin properly, and you'll feel young for years to come.
Author Resource:- Pay attention to ingredients on your skin care product. Organic ingredients in body washes and sunscreens are better for your skin.
