What 40 plus person do you know that hasn't been confused whether their high blood pressure is a result of poor health or something more mundane like anxiety? It is likely you, and everyone you know has wondered what does an anxiety attack feel like in hopes of avoiding a full doctors visit.

Assuming that you have an anxiety problem, the best way of preventing anxiety attacks, is to know the root cause and then addressing each issue.

Stretching your life too thin

Just because you are able to multi task, doesn't mean you should take that ability to the limit. If you are like most people, you have responsibilities to family, country, employer and health. Many people make the mistake of buying a house or renting an apartment that is beyond their ability to sustain. These people end up working long hours to make ends meet. One major sick day or cut in hours destroys the house of cards and they know this. Anxiety becomes ever present. Restructure your expenses down significantly and limit work to 40 hours. Make certain your mortgage or rent does not exceed 28% of your gross average income.

Letting your pride rule your decisions

Pride is one of the worst curses ever to be embraced by man. If something I too heavy for you to heave into place, ask for help. Your back will thank you. Perhaps it is a medical issue or an unrealistic promise. Own up to your shortcomings and ask for help. Stop worrying about what people think.

Not leaning on your spouse

If you have had a bad day at work or the finances don't add up, resist the natural tendency to yell and take it out on loved ones. Instead be frank about the situation and garner a hug.

Eating fast instead of eating right

Do you live on pastas, hamburgers and soda or do you eat fruits vegetables and plenty of animal protein? High carb, high chemical diets may be quick and easy, but they will also make you fat and contribute to almost every ailment you have. A great way of preventing anxiety attacks in the first place is having a well exercised, healthy fed body with a high immune system. If God wanted you to drink soda, he would have had it coming out of some animal or fruit.

No time for fun with the family

If you don't have time to spend time with your children or spouse at least once a week then you have a priority problem. It isn't natural to be away from the comforting presence of your family. Without them life is empty and anxiety will creep in. A few hours at the park or riding bikes can do wonders for your mood and recharge your batteries. You have to know why you are working in the first place.

Realizing the causes of strife and discontent, is the only way of preventing anxiety attacks. It is clinically proven that antidepressants or even home remedies for anxiety attacks, only mask the symptoms.
