A lot of people think that by taking an energy drink they can get rid of that tired and sluggish feeling. Not true. But energy can be indeed be boosted, although definitely not by ingesting a bottled drink.

Advertising is all about hype. Always remind yourself that the main purpose the main purpose of advertisers is to sell a product. The fit and shapely people you see are models and actors. These folks get paid to look good and to act well. When you see energetic, reed thin people bursting with energy, it is not because of the product they are endorsing. These folks are merely acting and the product is most likely a scam.

Energy does not come in a bottle. To understand how you can get a boost in energy, it is important to know that the most well-known reason for energy drain is stress, therefore the best way to deal with it is to learn the techniques to reduce stress. Deep breathing is a great way to do this, another is through meditation.

Below are more tips to help get rid of the blahs.

1. Get adequate sleep - There are a lot of people who suffer from different forms of insomnia. It is often advised that one needs to get at least eight hours of sleep. However, this is not a hard and fast rule, it actually it varies from person to person. Although the average amount of time is eight hours, it's really whatever you need to feel rested and only you can determine that. Try not to consume any alcoholic or caffeine-based drink to avoid disrupting your sleeping patterns.

2. Stay hydrated - Drinking a lot of water is not only good for your skin and digestive system, it is also beneficial for your overall health. Always be aware of the amount of water you take throughout the day. When you are drinking enough, you'll feel better.

3. Take a multivitamin - Eating a balanced diet is not an assurance that you are getting the minimum dietary requirements you need for energy. You need to take a multivitamin everyday. Make it part of your regular routine. Put your vitamin bottle next to your toothpaste or something you use daily so you don't forget to take it.

4. Exercise -- Although it may seem that exercise makes you tired, it actually provides more energy as long as it is done in moderation. Exercise gets the heart pumping thereby providing more oxygen to working muscles. It increases cardio-respiratory capacity at the same time.

5. Eat breakfast - To make sure you have the energy you need throughout the day, make sure to eat a good breakfast. After being at rest the whole night, your body needs a boost to get it going and eating is the only way to do it. In the same way that a car wouldn't start without gasoline, your body needs nourishment early in the day to make it work. A light and healthy breakfast is the perfect way to start the day.

Liquid energy is nonsense. The fizzy, lifting drink like the one in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is just a thing of fantasy. There are products that are promoted as providing some kind of instant magical liquid energy but they don't work. This bottled energy stuff is purely a product of creative advertising.

Feeling a little sluggish? Don't rush to Starbucks for that Venti Mocha Frappuccino with extra whipped cream. Turn on your mp3 player and put on some energetic music , grab a bottle of water and start brisk walking.

Getting an energy boost is something all of us need everyday. You can increase your energy just by changing a few things in your everyday routine. Try these tips and you will experience less and less of those low energy days.

If you want to cut calories and still have a lot of energy, try the Glycemic Impact Diet. It's designed to keep you energized throughout the day by eating small meals every few hours. Get more information here.
