These days, obese people suffer poor health not only from obesity related problems but also from the side effects of weight loss products that they use. If you do not exercise caution when buying a weight loss product, it can be harmful for your health. Doing your due diligence and arming yourself with the correct knowledge is essential, especially when it comes to weight loss.

Before buying any weight loss product, make sure that you have researched it thoroughly. During your research, you should try to get as much information as possible about the product, its good and bad effects, the ingredients that it is made up of etc, as these things can seriously affect your health.

Therefore in this article we shall discuss the role of the liver and why it is so important that you maintain the health of your liver and do not poison it with weight loss pills and potions which may cause it nothing but harm.

The liver is the bodys second largest organ (after the skin). It is situated at the top right hand corner of the abdomen with the stomach to the left, the right kidney below and the large intestine lies across the front.

The liver produces bile essential for fat breakdown and to detoxify the pollutants that enter our bloodstream. The function of the liver is to cleanse and filter the blood and in doing so remove all toxic matter, i.e. chemicals (including supplements) drugs, dead cells, micro-organisms and all other debris.

Due to the stresses of our modern lives the liver must work ever harder as we are exposed to pollutants in the air, the junk food we eat as part of our western diet, artificial sweeteners, damaged fats, pesticides and chemically altered supplements. The medicines we take i.e. pain relievers, birth control pills, HRT etc.

If the liver is not functioning properly and filtration does not occur toxins will remain in the blood and cause numerous problems ranging
from headaches, inflammation, acne, autoimmune diseases, chronic fatigue and general poor health and a loss of wellbeing.

The liver is the main fat burning organ in the body and regulates the metabolism of fat and carbohydrate. A healthy liver will remove fat in the form of cholesterol and pump it into the intestines where it will be carried away by the bowel. Therefore a healthy liver and a diet high in fibre is essential for healthy, ongoing and natural weight loss.

Be kind to your liver, eat your greens, try to consume at least 2 litres of water each day and a healthy liver will reward you and assist you in your quest to lose weight naturally and without the need for synthetic pills and potions.
